COA IX Holds CY 2023 Year-end Activities

Christmas magic once again filled the air as Commission on Audit (COA) Region IX celebrated its year-end activities last December 4-6, 2023 with the year’s Christmas theme: “Masaya, Masagana at Sama-samang Pagdiriwang ng Pasko sa COA”.
The year-end celebration kicked off with the holding of Hanging of the Greens and Tree- Lighting Ceremonies at the COA Regional Office (RO) IX at four o’clock in the afternoon last December 4, 2023. The activity was opened by warm welcome remarks from COA RO IX Regional Director Marisol D. Legaspi. With their holiday colored outfits, COAns’ creativity was displayed through the preparation of customized/do-it-yourself (DIY) decorative item or symbol hung on the Christmas Tree. A small salo-salo was thereafter shared, following the closing remarks given by ARD David Oliver C. Kong.
Christmas definitely epitomizes the spirit of giving as COA IX organized a Holiday Bazaar last December 6, 2023 as part of its year-end celebration. This is the Regional Office’s tradition of helping low-salaried employees through a fund-raising activity whole-heartedly participated by all Audit Groups and RO personnel. A good quantity of high-valued items was donated for bidding and other items were held for sale during the program. Through this initiative, holiday shopping just became more meaningful.
The air was also filled with nostalgia as members of the COA IX reminisced past eras during the Fellowship Night, with the theme “RETRO – Blast from the Past”, held at Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City. Audit groups recreated famous fashion styles from different decades of Neue Nineties, Color Poppin’ 80s, Groovy 70s, Plaid A Palooza 60s and Vintage 50s. Inner vogue and talents showcased were also awarded. The night was full of fun, glamour, and camaraderie.
And to remember that Christmas is about the birth of the child Jesus, COA RO IX held its 2023 Children’s Party last December 20, 2023. The said celebration was attended by the children, nephews, nieces and grandchildren of COA IX employees. The kids made the event truly spectacular with their colorful outfits and headdresses. Both the kids and kids at heart enjoyed the festivity as they were all entertained by a dancing Jollibee mascot, various games, and a magician performing his best tricks. They also got to revel in fun activities such as face painting and prancing in a bouncy inflatable playground.
This month-long celebration was made possible through the ingenuity, effort, and cooperation of the various year-end activity committees. Each one’s positive contribution definitely led to the achievement of this year’s theme as COAns were indeed blessed with a “Masaya, Masagana at Sama-samang Pagdiriwang ng Pasko sa COA”.
